4-H Fair Weekend at the fairgrounds in Durham, Connecticut.
Looking for affordable family fun? Come to the New Haven & Middlesex County 4-H Fair at the fairgrounds in Durham. The fair is open Friday, August 1st from 5:00pm-10:00pm, Saturday, August 2nd from 8:00am-10:00pm and Sunday, August 3rd from 8:00am-4:00pm. Great family fun at a low cost – just $5.00 parking, entry to the fair is free.
So fill that van or car with the whole family. There are tractor pulls, horse pulls and ox pulls, animal showmanship, home arts, robotics demonstrations, archery along with music entertainment and free face painting. We have a dinner Saturday night from 5:00pm-7:00pm followed by a live auction. Food vendors are there all weekend.
Livestock exhibits are here to see throughout the Fair, beginning on Friday night of Fair weekend. The Home Arts exhibit area will be closed for much of Friday night while the judging of exhibits goes on, but will be open all day Saturday and Sunday. You can view the live judging of poultry showmanship beginning at 6:00 PM in the Cow Palace on Friday. Many more animal shows occur on Saturday and Sunday. Parking is available inside the fairgounds at Durham, at the top of the hill. This county 4-H Fair is one of the easiest agricultural fairs of the season to push a baby stroller around because the exhibit barns have smooth concrete floors and the Fair is not over-crowded. Your children will be able to see all the same kinds of animals they would see at a major fair: from rabbits to llamas to cows, and more.
