Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo

Spend an hour or the whole day and see more than 300 animals representing primarily North and South American species. Come learn about our many endangered and threatened species, which include the Amur (Siberian) tiger, Andean condor, Ocelot, Red wolf, Maned wolf, and Golden lion tamarin. Come see our South American rainforest with free-flight aviary, then walk through the prairie dog exhibit with “pop-up” viewing areas. Visit the New England Farmyard with goats, cows, pigs, sheep and other barnyard critters. Take a walk along the hoofstock trail featuring bison, pronghorn, deer and more. Mystic Aquarium

The Maritime Aquarium

The Long Island Sound journey begins along a freshwater river and the shallow waters of the salt marsh, then moves into deeper and deeper habitats out to the open ocean. These close encounters with animals, enhanced by friendly volunteer interpreters and informative display panels, educate visitors about the aquatic life of Long Island Sound and its watershed. The Maritime Aquarium also boasts Connecticut’s largest IMAX Theater, with a movie screen that’s six stories high. This dynamic venue offers an immersing, larger-than-life experience that extend the educational themes beyond Long Island Sound and into other natural or cultural arenas.
