February 25, 2017 from 12 noon to 4:00pm

Olde Mistick Village will take on the warm and welcome aroma of chowder as the merchants of Olde Mistick Village host their 14th Annual Cabin Fever Festival and Charity Cook-Off on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 12 noon to 4:00pm. All proceeds from this event benefit The Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center Emergency Food Pantry.

This day will be filled with family fun and community support! Over 15 of the area’s finest restaurants and caterers will serve up their signature chowder from the warmth of sponsoring shops in Olde Mistick Village. A team of celebrity judges will choose the winners in three categories: 1) Most Creative Chowder, 2) Heartiest Chowder, 3) Best Use of Regional Ingredients and 4) Best overall flavor. The public will vote for the winners of the coveted “People’s Choice” for Best Chowder category. All awards will be presented in the Meeting House in Olde Mistick Village at 4:30 pm.

Chowder tickets are $1 for each 3 oz. cup of chowder, or you may purchase 12 tickets for just $10. Tickets will be on sale the day of the event within the village at various store locations. All proceeds from the tastings benefit the Emergency Food Pantry at the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center. Over the past 13 years, this neighbors-helping-neighbors event has annually raised between $5,000 and $21,000. 2017 promises to be another banner year for charity! Throughout Olde Mistick Village, both indoors and out, there will be FREE family fun events for all.

Vicki Anderson, Executive Director of The Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center has seen an enormous increase in the need for emergency food over the past 13 years. Many families now need supplemental food twice each month and the center is presently feeding nearly 2000 people each year. The PNC has also created a Weekender Backpack Food Program for children enrolled in their school’s “Free & Reduced Lunch” program. This provides children with access to fresh milk, sandwiches, and other food items to get them through the weekend. In fact, in 2015, 35% of all children in the Stonington school system were enrolled in this supplemental lunch program, up nearly twofold over the past 11 years.

With the generous participation of Olde Mistick Village Shops, over 15 local restaurants and caterers, and the support of our patrons and community, Cabin Fever Festival and Charity Cook-Off will help many individuals and families in need. Please support this worthy cause.

This fun family festival is a rain, snow or shine event. Olde Mistick Village is located at 27 Coogan Blvd., Mystic, CT, exit 90 off I-95
